GENERALMANAGER, NORTHERN RAILWAY RELEASES NEW TIME TABLE EFFECTIVE FROM 1stJULY 2012

General Manager, Northern Railway Shri V.K. Guptareleased the new train Time-Table of Northern Railway effective from 1st July 2012 at a PressConference held at Northern Railway’s Officers Club, State Entry Road, NewDelhi today in presence of Sr. Dy. General Manager, Sh. Md. Jamshed, ChiefOperating Manager, Sh. S.K. Chaudhary, Chief Commercial Manager, Sh. P.K. Goeland other senior officers of Northern Railway and Delhi Division. The salientfeatures of the New Time Table include the introduction of 16 new trains whichincludes 13 Mail/Express and 3 Passenger trains. The frequency of 8 trains hasbeen increased and 9 Express and 4 Passenger trains have been extended forgreater connectivity to farther regions.

Speaking to the press on the occasion, Shri Guptastated that Northern Railway has been undertaking several initiatives to meetpassengers comfort and convenience. He drew attention towards the focusedmeasures taken in the area of passenger grievances and stated that passengers onNorthern Railway could send their Complaints through SMS on 9717630982.

He also mentioned that to curb theprevailing menace of touting activities at the PRS of Delhi area, NorthernRailway has constituted the team of Officers & Inspectors of CommercialDeptt. & Railway Protection Force(RPF) to check  important PRS like, IRCA, Ghaziabad,  Sarojini Nagar, Kadkaduma,  Kirti Nagar,  Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Azadpur,  NOIDA & Delhi Shahadara in the morningfrom 6.45 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. to ensure that the Tatkal Tickets to be issued togenuine passengers.  Agents have beenrestricted on the Tatkal Tickets at the counters between 8.00 a.m. to 10.a.m. toregulate registration, booking flow of tickets on website for individual usersto ensure that the agent do not misuse the facility and genuine  individual passengers are able to gettickets.

He also explained about the future plan ofIRCTC that new e-ticketing application is under development in coordinationwith CRIS.  With this, it will be able tomore than double the existing capacity and address the capacity issues ofonline demand of tickets.

 Speaking on the occasion, theGeneral Manager lauded the various achievements of the zone in core functionalareas. He added that Northern Railway handled 47.11 MT of freighttraffic during 2011-12 and the total freight earning was Rs. 4700.42 crorewhich 7% higher than that in the previous financial year.
