Southern Railway to get extended trains flagged off


The Southern Railway – Salem Division has planned to flag off the Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) train service (Coimbatore – Erode – Coimbatore extended up to Salem) at the Salem Junction on Saturday (July 7) at 1 p.m. Minister for Highways and Minor Ports Edappadi K. Palanisamy is scheduled to flag off the train.Earlier, the MEMU was operated only between Coimbatore and Erode and it was announced in the Railway Budget this year that it would be extended up to Salem.As per the new schedule, the train number 66602 would depart Coimbatore at 09.10 hours and reach Erode at 11.20 hours and depart Erode at 11.25 hours to reach Salem at 12.45 hours.In the return direction, it would depart Salem at 13.40 hours and reach Erode at 14.55 hours and depart at 15.00 hours to reach Coimbatore at 17.40 hours.
