DMRC Launches online smart card recharge facilitu and ticket reader cum add value machine for the commuters


The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation today launched the facility of online recharge of Metro smart cards through the internet. With this new facility, the commuters will now be able to top up their smart cards through credit and debit cards by visiting the following links:

o www.dmrcsmartcard.com

These sites will guide the commuters through the recharge procedure. After completing the top up process, the commuters will have to physically validate their recharge by using the Ticket Reader Cum Add Value Machines, which have been installed at 13 Metro stations of the Delhi Metro network as given below:

The Ticket Reader cum Add value Machine is a Touch Screen based device which also provides information about the value of the smart cards, the last recharge information as well as the last five entry exit transactions.

The first such machine was inaugurated at the Barakhamba Road Metro station today by DMRC’s Managing Director, Sh. Mangu Singh in the presence of other senior DMRC officials.

DMRC has partnered with ICICI Bank for the launch of this online automated fare collection process. Today’s lauch is the first step in this process wherein the bank has integrated its payment getaway for recharging DMRC cards through the internet.

Presently, about 69.75 percent of the Metro commuters use smart cards. Approximately, 17,000 smart cards are sold every day from the various stations of the network. Currently, about one crore Metro smart cards are in circulation.
