Secunderabad-Shalimar A/C Weekly Superfast Express & Kacheguda-Madurai Weekly Express Flagged off


Shri Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Shri M Anjan Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Secunderabad flagged off two new Trains viz., Train No. 12774/12773 Secunderabad-Shalimar (Kolkata) Air Conditioned Weekly Superfast Express and train No. 17615 / 17616 Kacheguda-Madurai Weekly Express today i.e., 28th May, 2013 at a function held at Secunderabad Railway Station. This grand function was attended by Public in  large  number and senior railway officials.  These two new trains were flagged off in fulfilment of announcements  made in  Railway Budget 2012.                

Shri G Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble MLA, Amberpet was present at Kacheguda Railway Station at the inaugural of Kacheguda-Madurai Weekly Express.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddysaid that the two new trains being introduced today would fulfil the  aspiration of the travelling public. Priority would be accorded for introduction of new trains o­n other routes where there is genuine passenger demand. The Minister said that safety in running of trains is the top priority areas for railways. He informed that up gradation of passenger amenities and modernization of Railway Stations would be expedited. This region has been getting large number of trains from successive railway budgets in the recent past. 23 new trains were announced in the 2013 railway budget and these will be commenced in a phased manner in this year. More than 400 summer special trains are also being run to clear extra rush. Lifts and Escalators are being provided at major Stations,  The Minister also said that in order to ease out the pressure o­n Secunderabad Station and to avoid detention of trains short of signals, setting up of additional rail terminals will be considered.

Addressing the gathering Shri M Anjan Kumar Yadav  lauded the efforts of South Central Railway for introducing many new trains as announced in the Railway Budgets. He urged SCR to commence the works related to World Class Stations at Secunderabad and Tirupati. He thanked Minister of State for Railways for his special efforts towards developing the rail infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.

Shri D P Pande, General Manager, South Central Railwaywelcomed the gathering and expounded various measures being taken by SCR to improve train services and provide amenities to the passengers. The full text of General Manager’s address  is attached.

Later, Shri Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy inspected the MMTS Stations o­n Secunderabad-Lingampalli by a special train and reviewed the working of MMTS services with Shri S. K. Misra, Divisional Railway Manager, South Central Railway and other senior railway officials.
