ECoR GENERATED MORE THAN ONE LAKHS ADDITIONAL BERTHS TO AVOID RUSH DURING PUJA SEASON

16 SPECIAL TRAINS TOWARDS DIFFERENT DESTINATIONS

192 ADDITIONAL COACHES AUGMENTED IN DIFFERENT REGULAR TRAINS.

          More than o­ne lakh additional berths have been created by East Coast Railway to clear the waitlisted passengers during Puja Season this year i.e. from September to October 2013.

          With a view to provide comfort to the commuters and also to clear the huge waitlist of passengers during the peak season, East Coast Railway has taken steps to run special trains towards different destinations from its jurisdiction and also by augmenting additional coaches in different mail/express trains. Through this, 1,76,580 additional berths (including 94,564 additional berths originating from ECoR) have been created to provide comfortable journey to the passengers during this peak Puja-rush Season.

          Similarly, Railways is running 16 Special Trains from and through ECoR jurisdiction towards different destinations of the country out of which 07 special trains (65 trips) are originating from East Coast Railway System. The special trains originating from East Coast Railway jurisdiction will provide 66,544 additional berths to the commuters travelling to their destinations during the period. These trains are- Bhubaneswar-New Delhi AC Super fast Express via Angul and Sambalpur City, Bhubaneswar-Yesvantpur AC Super fast Express,  Visakhapatnam-Tata via Keonjhar, Puri-Santragachhi, Puri-Sealdah, Visakhapatnam-Kollam and Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad AC Super fast Express. Apart from this, 82,026 berths have been created in 09 special trains passing through ECoR jurisdiction to facilitate the passengers between Hatia & Yesvantpur via Sambalpur, Santragachhi-Kochuveli, Hyderabad-Shalimar, Shalimar-Yesvantpur, Secunderabad-Guwahati, Kamakhya-Yesvantpur, Kamakhya-Chennai, Santragachhi-Chennai and Dibrugarh & Kochuveli.

East Coast Railways would like passengers to avail the services of these special trains during the forthcoming Puja Season to avoid rush in regular Mail/Express long distance trains.
