Raichur-Gadwal New Railway Line, a Vital Link Towards Growth

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for  Railways,  will commission the 58 Km. long Raichur-Gadwal new railway line at 10:30 hrs o­n 12thOctober, 2013 at a  function to be held at Raichur Railway Station.
 He will also flag off the inaugural run of new  DEMU passenger  train services Viz., No.77690/94 Raichur-Gadwal/Kacheguda DEMU  to mark the  commissioning of the new line.
SCR is constantly  striving  to  increase the  rail net work to enhance rail travel services.  The 58 Km long Raichur-Gadwal new railway line  heralds SCR’s commitment  towards  extending  rail net work in its jurisdiction.
Salient Features of Raichur-Gadwal New Railway Line:-
Ø  Completed at a capital expenditure of Rs. 300 Cr., the 58 Km. long new Broad Gauge railway line between Raichur and Gadwal, connecting Raichur (Dt.) of Karnataka and Gadwal in Mahbub Nagar District of  Andhra Pradesh,  acquires the distinction of  being an inter-state railway line.

Ø  Raichur is situated o­n Guntakal-Mumbai main  line of Guntakal Division and Gadwal is situated o­n  Dhone-Kacheguda main line of Hyderabad Division. Thus, this new line provides  a convenient short link  between these two main line corridors.

Ø  This new line will enable the people in Mahbubnagar district to go to Raichur for catching Express trains bound for various destinations towards Mumbai,  Chennai,  Kanniyakumari etc.

Ø  265 Hectares of land was acquired for the line. Since the railway line running through a topography of plateau, it has banks with a maximum height of 14.65 m. and cuttings with a maximum depth of  8.96 m. involving  huge volume of earth works.

Ø  The Permanent way is laid with new and sturdy 52 Kg Rails and new Pre-Stressed Concrete  Sleepers with M+7 density o­n main lines, with adequate ballast cushioning as per standard specifications.

Ø  There are three  Railway Stations o­n this new line viz., Chandrabanda (Halt) in Karnataka , Pandurangaswamy Road (crossing station ) in Andhra Pradesh and Priya Darshini Jurala Project Road (Halt) in Andhra Pradesh.

Ø  There are five Level Crossings – 3 manned and 2 unmanned o­n this line.

Ø  There are 186 Bridges (including Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges) o­n the new line section. These include 15 major bridges and 171 minor bridges. These apart, there are 14 Canal Crossings, out of  which 4  have already been completed.

Ø  There are 5 Major Road Over Bridges, out of which 3 have already been completed and 2 are under progress. There are 23 Road Under Bridges, out of which 2 are major and 21 are minor.  21 Road Under Bridges have already been completed and the balance will  be completed in due course.

Modern signaling apparatus such as Optic-Fibre Cable, Signal with LED lights, Panel Inter locking, Electronic Inter Locking, Net Work Data Loggers have been provided o­n this new line section for speedier train operations.
