ER EFFORT FOR MORE SAFE & PUNCTUAL TRAIN OPERATIONS IN BARDDHAMAN JN

Eastern Railway has successfully commissioned state of the art Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system at Barddhaman replacing the 50 year-old Liver Frame Signaling system. The Non-Interlocking work for commissioning of the RRI started o­n 14th August and completed within the target date of 17th August, 2014.

As result of this, there will be considerable improvement in the safety and efficiency of train operations as well as punctuality of train services over Eastern Railway as a whole and in Howrah-Barddhaman Main & Chord line and Sahibganj loop sections in particular.

Shri R.K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway expressed happiness and congratulated all Officers & Staff of Signal & Telecommunication and Operating Department for timely completion of a most difficult RRI installation work with limited cancellations and diversions of train services through a most congested junction station like Barddhaman.

Shri Gupta said that this difficult task have been possible due to excellent performance, meticulous planning & faultless execution of work within a targeted time.

Senior Officers of Eastern Railway and nearly 500 numbers of supervising & supporting staff have worked tirelessly for commissioning of this second largest RRI of Eastern Railway.

          Barrdahaman RRI has provisions for as much as 555 routes, 164 numbers of Point Machines, 210 Track Circuits, 63 Main Signals, 63 Shunt Signals and 37 numbers of Calling-on Signals and altogether it is indeed a massive signaling network.
