GOLD SMUGGLER’S GANG BUSTED BY RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE
Railway Protection Force personnel during routine checking of train number 15960 DN Kamrup Express at Dimapur railway station on 26-08-2014, managed to arrest a gang of Inter State Gold smugglers. The smugglers numbering 4(four) including two ladies were arrested from coach number S-8. All the arrested persons belong to Manipur. 26(twenty six) numbers of Gold biscuits weighting about 4.33 K.G. valued about rupees one crores twenty lakhs which were kept concealed very systematically inside Petticoats and Jeans by the ladies were detected and seized by the RPF personnel with the help of GRP/Dimapur.
It is evident from the seizure that, Inter State Gold smuggling gangs are active in the North East Region and they are trying to use trains as a carrier for transporting Gold to other parts of the country. All the arrested persons were forwarded to the Court of SRM/Tinsukia by Inspector/RPF/Dimapur under section 145 & 146 of the Indian Railway Act. Customs authorities were also informed about the matter.
