For the second time in the last fortnight, a goods train derailed at Cantt station of Gorakhpur on Tuesday. The accident occurred at almost the same point and on the same track on which the first derailment had taken place.
The UP-Panki goods train was coming from eastern frontiers (Nimoligarh) to Cantt railway station. Its 48 wagons crossed the point, but the last three wagons were derailed. The guard and driver managed to control the train thus averting any bigger accident. However, the derailment blocked the track for some time, thus affecting the movement of trains on the route. The railway officials and accident rescue team ( ART) reached the spot and cleared the track by evening.
The railway administration is investigating the reason for repeated accidents on this track.
