Azad Hind to run on previous schedule soon

The rescheduling of Azad Hind Express from 6.25pm to 2am from Pune station is causing discomfort to passengers as they fail to catch the train at the odd hour.
The timing was changed following the Jnaneswari Express mishap in West Bengal on May 28, 2010.
With the security forces now offering safe movement of trains along that route, the railway authorities will allow Azad Hind Express to run on its previous timing.
Jnaneswari Express was derailed in Midnapore district claiming the lives of 148 passengers. Suspecting it to be a Naxalite attack, the railway authorities banned the night movement for five trains, including Pune-Howrah Azad Hind Express, Kurla Deluxe Express and Mumbai Mail.
Following the accident, night movement of trains was banned in Kharagpur-Chakradharpur division and Rourkela section via Tatanagar.
Railway officials and security forces had recently held a meeting and the south eastern railway has been asked to ensure the movement of passenger trains in Kharagpur-Chakradharpur section during the night time.
Henceforth, a pilot engine will guide these trains at night. There were plans to reschedule the trains to regular timing from this week, but the railway officials have postponed it for a week.
Additional divisional railway manager (Pune), Ashok Kumar Gupta said, “Due to some technical problem, the authorities have decided to continue to run this train at its existing schedule till
December 19.”
