Fog, mist delay trains


Most parts of the region remained covered in thick blanket of fog. The foggy and misty conditions caused cancellation and delays of a number of long-distance trains on Thursday.
As per reports of NER (Varanasi) spokesperson, around half-a-dozen long distance trains passing through various sections of the division, including Mumbai-bound Pawan Express and others, remained late by more than five hours in the day. The VIP train of the route, Shivganga Express, was also delayed by more than six hours due to foggy conditions. Similarly, a number of New Delhi-bound trains, including Lichchavi Express, have already been cancelled between December 1 to January 31.
The railway passengers and their relatives also remained disturbed due to delay and cancellation of trains in NR division. As many as half-a-dozen long distance trains, including Dehradun Express, Kashi Vishwanath and Punjab Mail, were running more than five hours late. A number of passengers also jostled at ticket booking counters to get their reservation cancelled.
Meanwhile, the official record of Met office indicated a dip of 1.9 degree C in the maximum temperature over the past 24 hours as the mercury was recorded at 22 degree C in the day. Poor visibility was witnessed across outskirts and world famous ghats in the city, especially in the morning hours.
