One of the 13 pairs of trains running on the Irugur – Podanur – Irugur section is all set to be routed via Coimbatore from the second week of March 2012 – Train Number 12787/8 Bilaspur – Tirunelveli – Bilaspur Express. This comes as a first victory of sorts for Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee. Train Number 12787 Bilaspur – Tiruneveli Express will stop at Coimbatore Junction instead of Podanur.
The train will reach Coimbatore on Tuesdays at 5.15 p.m. and depart for Tirunelveli at 5.20 p.m. In the return direction Train number 12788 from Tirunelveli to Bilaspur will arrive Coimbatore on Sundays at 1.25 p.m. and depart at 1.30 p.m.
Train towards Tirunelveli will stop from March 13 and train towards Bilaspur will stop from March 11. Accordingly, Coimbatore Junction will appear in the schedule of these trains and advance reservations will commence accordingly.
The running time of the train is likely to go up only by 15 to 20 minutes.
