The Raipur division of the India Railways recovered Rs 3 crore as penalty from ticketless and unauthorized travellers in the year 2011 and issued on Wednesday a list of the penalty recovery.
In this special drive of the Indian railways, Rs 3.18 crore was collected as penalty, which was 11.2 per cent higher than the amount collected last year.
This year, till the month of November, around 8 lakh illegal travellers, tickeless and unauthoriozed travellers were detained and penalized.
The rail administration has asked the travellers to buy adequate tickets to evade punishment.
