South Central Railway observed Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar today (6.12.2011). Shri G.N. Asthana, General Manager, South Central Railway was the Chief Guest and Shri R. Vijaya Mohan, Addl. General Manager, S.C. Rly and Shri Manoj Pande, Chief Personnel Officer, S.C. Rly were the Guest s of honour on the occasion. Officers, Staff, Representatives of Trade Unions attended the programme in large number.
Shri G. N. Asthana lighted a ceremonial lamp to mark the commencement of the event and garlanded the Statue ofBharat Ratna Dr. B.R.Ambedkar. Other senior Railway officials and Trade Union leaders also paid floral tribute by garlanding the Statue.
In his homage , Shri G.N. Asthana said that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his great contributions towards eradication of feudalismand establishing an egalitarian society in India. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, one of the illustrious sons of our Country and a genius by education was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. He wasalso a great Visionary, Statesman, Historian, Educationalist, brilliant orator, prolific writer, a crusader for social justice and the messiah of down trodden. He showed the countrymen that in-spite of many disadvantages, one can attain his goal with determination and dedication, and there would be no bar for excellence. He left such a legacy which inspires the countrymen towards achieving greater things in their lives. Rendering loyal, dedicated and honest service to our country and society would be the best way to pay tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he added.
Shri Manoj Pande, while paying tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, said that Dr. Ambedkar fought relentlessly for eradication ofuntouchability, made provision for reservation for education, employment and polity for Dalit communities in the Indian Constitution which really injected greater empowerment in the life of socially oppressed and down trodden.
Shri Ch. Shankar Rao, General Secretary, South Central Railway Employees Sangh, in his tribute, said that the Constitution authored by Bharat Ratna Ambedkar helped to establish a successful democracy in India and implementation ofreservation policies provided in the Indian Constitution by Dr.B.R. Ambedkar helped avoid social divide andunrest among Indian communities. Shri V.V. Naik, Zonal Secretary, All Indian Scheduled Casts and Scheduled Tribes Association, said that ensuring the constitutional benefits reaching the down trodden people would be the real tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
