Union Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa will inaugurate the newly laid broad gauge line between Nagore and Karaikal railway stations on December 17.Subsequent to this, Train No. 16175 Chennai Egmore-Nagore Express leaving Chennai Egmore from December 17 onwards will be extended to Karaikal. Train No. 16176 Nagore-Chennai Egmore Express will leave from Karaikal with effect from December 18.Train No. 16866 Ernakulam-Nagore Express leaving Ernakulam from December 17 onwards will be extended to Karaikal.Train No. 16865 Nagore-Ernakulam Express will depart from Karaikal with effect from December 18.
Special trains
In order to clear the extra rush of passengers, the Southern Railway will operate the following special trains between Chennai Central and Mumbai CST.Train No. 01063 Mumbai CST-Chennai central Special will leave Mumbai CST at 11.30 a.m. on December 23 and 26 and arrive at Chennai Central at 11.35 a.m. the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 01064 Chennai Central-Mumbai CST Special will leave Chennai Central at 1.10 p.m. on December 24 and 27 and reach Mumbai CST at 3.05 p.m. the next day.
Train rescheduled
Train No. 15629 Chennai Egmore-Guwahati Weekly Express scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 10.30 p.m. on December 19 (Monday) has been rescheduled to leave at 12.05 a.m. on December 20 (Tuesday) due to late running of pairing train, according to a press release issued on Friday.
