ECoR launches SMS-based grievance redressal mechanism

Indian Railways have launched a new service, which provides a passenger an opportunity to lodge grievances on any service by the Railways through SMS, said East Coast Railway in a press release here on Thursday.
The ECoR said it had introduced SMS-based passenger complaint and grievances redressal facility for the rail users. Now, train users could send their complaints through SMS from their cell phones to 09437553815 for registration of the same, the release said.
Passengers have to put their 10 digit PNR Number or 08 Digit Ticket Number, followed by a coma and then the text of the complaint train number and date of journey and detail of complaint.
“The text message should include PNR or ticket number and should be limited to 160 characters. The SMS complaints will be registered with ECoR immediately and acknowledged by giving you a registration number,” ECoR said.
It assured that remedial action would be initiated with intimation to the said passenger. However, this service is not toll free.
