Mamata seeks Kolkata-Siliguri Shatabdi

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked Union Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi to look into the possibility of introducing Shatabdi Express trains between Kolkata and Siliguri. She said this after flagging off four trains at Bangdubi near Siliguri and also stressed on working jointly with the Railways for developing the region. Ms. Banerjee said work on an axle factory would begin soon here and the new Rangpo-Sevak rail line will be completed in the next three years at a cost of Rs. 5,000 crore as Forest Department clearance had been received. The foundation stone for the project was laid two years ago.
