Urban transportation is one of the major challenging issues which need to be addressed at very early stages of the urbanization process. There is an urgent need to promote public transport systems in Indian cities as these are not only affordable but also environment friendly. Rail based Mass Rapid Transit Systems (MRTS) holds the key to these prevailing urban transportation challenges.

DMRC now, therefore, wishes to share this experience with others who are involved in the urban transportation field. In this context, this Management Development Programme (MDP) has been planned to be conducted at its Shastri Park Training Institute, which is the only training institute in South Asia in Metro operations that has been accorded with ISO 9001:2008 certification, a validation from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for maintaining standards in Quality Management System (QMS) in training.
