Delhi Metro Musem unveils working metro train model and souvenirs, Top ten smart card users and volunteers of Delhi Metro citizens` forms Felicitated.


A working model of the Metro train displaying its movements through underground, elevated and at grade corridors was unveiled at the Delhi Metro Museum at Patel Chowk Metro station today by DMRC’s Managing Director, Sh. Mangu Singh.

Apart from the introduction of this new attraction, the top ten smart card users of Delhi Metro and some active volunteers of the Metro Citizens’ Forum volunteers programme were also felicitated by the Managing Director on the occasion.

The working model of the Metro train will depict the real time operating scenario of a Metro system complete with OHE wiring, ballastless tracks etc. It has been designed meticulously to give the visitors a feel of the actual movement of a Metro train. The model is approximately 20 feet in length and will become a major attraction of the museum.

The Delhi Metro Museum today also introduced new souvenir items for sale at its souvenir counter. Attractive visiting card holders, Swiss knives, digital thermometers, key chains, table tops with metallic watches, paper weights etc have been packaged into custom designed boxes with the Delhi Metro logo for sale at the counter.

On the 1st of January, 2009, the Metro Museum, the first of its kind in South Asia, was presented as a New Year gift to the people of Delhi. A treasure trove of display panels, historical photographs and exhibits about the Metro, the museum traces the genesis of the Delhi Metro. In the last one year, the museum has been visited by many eminent dignitaries including the hon’ble Vice President of India, Sh. Hamid Ansari. The museum also organizes painting competitions for underprivileged children to raise awareness about Metro etiquettes and discipline.
