Supervisors’ Training Centre Celebrates 36th Annual Day


The Supervisors’ Training Centre (STC)_ celebrated its 36th Annual Day today (06th Feb. 2013) at its premises at South Lallaguda, Secunderabad. Shri Mahesh Chandra, Chief Controller of Stores and Additional General Manager, South Central Railway was the Chief Guest. Shri P.C. Gajbhiye, Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri Sunil Kumar Gupta, Chief Workshop Engineer, Shri P.C. Sangewar, Chief Material Manager, Shri V.K. Agarwal, Chief Motive Power Engineer, South Central Railway were the guests of honour.
Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Mahesh Chandra said that Supervisors’ Training Centre is playing commendable role in training Supervisors (Mechanical) from all Carriage Repair Workshops, Wagon Repair Workshops,Diesel Maintenance Sheds, Loco Pilots, Loco Inspectors etc, in South Central Railway and many from Southern Railway also. He informed that Training in STC keep the Supervisors, Loco Inspector, and Loco Pilots abreast of the latest technologies introduced in Indian Railways in the sphere of rolling stock maintenance ultimately leading to minimizing equipment failure and improved productivity.
Shri P.C. Gajbhiye, while addressing the participants, exhorted the faculties of the Training Centre to impart thorough training toSection Engineers, Loco Pilots, Loco Inspectors o­n how to prevent parting of rakes, stalling of trains, hot axle, asset failure etc., in order to avoid chain reactions which may be causedto train operations by such occurrences. Shri Mahesh Chandra and Gajbhiye released quarterly News Letter of the training centre and gave away awards and shields to the meritorious trainees.
Shri V. Anantha Rao, Principal / STC while presentingannual report ofSTC, informed that STC possesses all required facilities for theoretical and hand o­n training such as expert faculties, Diesel Model Room, Carriage and Wagon Model Room, Air Brake Training Room, Mechatronics Lab, Welding Lab, sufficient Hostel accommodation etc.During the year 2011-12, he added, 57 Supervisors were trained in three long tern courses, 151 Supervisors in four short term courses, 57 in special courses, 92 in material management courses, 304 in 11 different courses conducted for the staff working in various departments of SC Railway.
The cultural programmes, presented by the trainees,   added flavor to the celebrations.
