South Central Railway has setup state of the art Mechanized Laundries at Secunderabad and Kacheguda with a view to supply quality Linen (Bedrolls)to Rail Passengers during travel. The Laundries, with one Tonne Capacity each, are at present able to meet 20% of the Bedrolls requirement on SCR each day (i.e., supply of 5000 Bedroll sets while the requirement is 25,000 sets of Bedrolls each day).These Mechanized Laundries have resulted in generating immense satisfaction amongst the Rail users in view of the high quality and hygiene in cleaning of the Linen by Modern Machinery.
South Central Railway is planning expansion of Mechanized Laundries by setting up of four more plants at Kakinada, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Kacheguda (one more in addition to the existing plant). These Mechanized Laundries, which are planned to handle the entire 100% requirements of Linen management on SCR, will be run on Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) method. Action has been initiated on setting up of these new Mechanized Laundries.
