ER TO ELIMINATE ALL UNMANNED LEVEL CROSSING GATE

General Manager, Eastern Railway, Shri R.K Gupta reviewed the performance of Eastern Railway in a high level meeting of Principal Officers this morning at E.Rly headquarters at Fairlie Place, Kolkata,

            Shri Gupta emphasized o­n the safety aspects of train running over Eastern Railway jurisdiction. He said that now all the unmanned level crossing gates have been closed by Road Under Bridges (RUB), Diversions or manning by Gate Mitra. As a result of this, the smooth and safe running of trains will be possible. It will also help safety of road users and pedestrians.

            He advised all concerned officials of Headquarter and Divisions to review safety related issues regularly and ensure safety in running of trains. However, he made it clear that there will be zero tolerance so far the safety is concerned.

            He also put emphasis o­n security of passengers, particularly during the ensuing festive season, to tackle heavy rush of passengers in railway premises, trains and platforms. In view of this, Eastern Railway has made elaborate security arrangements for the festive season to ensure safety and security of the passengers, especially women and children during late hours in the railway premises & trains.  Lady RPF Constables & Inspectors will be deployed to see the comfort of women passengers. The CCTV monitoring by skilled staff and officers will be done during this period including utilization of Sniffer Dog Squad Checking at important stations. Frequent announcements will be made in all stations advising public not to touch any unidentified object. Security arrangement in ladies compartments will be augmented to avoid any untoward incident.

            Shri Gupta also advised to see that all Mail/Express and local trains run o­n time, particularly during the festive season.

            He urged upon the passengers and rail users to extend co-operation for maintaining cleanliness at Railway station premises for a hygienic and better environment.
