Progress on AP Metro Rail Projects

AP state government has proposed to construct three Metro Rail Projects, one each at Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati cities. It chooses Metro Rail expert Sreedharan as its consulting advisor for these three projects. Now it handovers the complete responsibility of preparing Feasibility Report (FR) and Detailed Project Report (DPR) to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Chairman E Sreedharan. Government has issued orders to this regard on yesterday.
E Sreedharan has already visited Vijayawada city and advised the state government to confine metro rail project to Vijayawada city only instead of extending it to entire VGTM area as it is not viable. He said that he will submit a DPR before end of January 2015. He also said that soon after obtaining necessary clearances from Central government, he will start this project works within six months and try to complete within three years period. Next, he is coming to Vizag on October 15th on a two-day visit to study the four proposals put by GVMC. He will conduct a physical survey in the city and give his suggestions. He may visit Tirupati after few days for the same purpose.
