Eastern Railway, although made its mark as a passenger carrying railway, has now achieved a remarkable growth in freight loading during the period from April to December, 2014 i.e. first nine months of this financial year.
Total revenue loading of ER during the period have reached to the tune of 48.590 Million Tonnes, registering a growth of 9.00% over that during the corresponding period of the last year.
Inspite of the heavy fog in Northern Region retarding pace of train movements, freight loading of Eastern Railway stood at 6.147 Million Tonnes in December, 2014, which is 10.94% more than that in December, 2013.
