As part of the series of meetings being conducted by South Central Railway exclusively with Hon’ble Members of Parliament, representing the area under the jurisdiction of SCR, a meeting is held with Hon’ble MPs at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, today i.e., 7th January, 2015.
Hon’ble Members of Parliament – both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – mainly from Telangana State, primarily representing the area falling under Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions of SCR took part in this meeting. Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) also participated.
Shri P. K. Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, welcomed the dignitaries, who included 17 Members of Parliament from Telangana, one from Maharashtra (Beed) and one from Karnataka (Bidar) for this meeting. The Principal Heads of Departments of SCR and Divisional Railway Managers concerned also attended this meeting.
Shri Srivastava briefed the august gathering on the performance of South Central Railway and also various measures being taken for improving service to passengers on the Zone.
In his address, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge), appreciated the initiative of SCR in convening this meeting. While expressing happiness that most of the MPs from Telangana participated in this meet, he advised that the demands for Railway developmental activities should be properly prioritized. Providing improved passenger amenities and early completion of sanctioned projects shall be given due importance, he added.
In this meeting, the Hon’ble Members of Parliament raised a host of issues related to Railway developmental activities in their respective constituencies. The demands presented by the Hon’ble Members mainly pertained to expediting completion of already sanctioned works, expansion of rail network to new areas, running more number of train services, additional stoppages to existing trains; providing lifts / escalators and other improved amenities at all major stations and construction of ROBs / RUBs at busy crossings etc.
The General Manager stated that the proceedings of this meeting would immensely help the Railways in finalizing the Railway developmental plans for the people of this region.
The suggestions and views expressed by the Hon’ble Members would be given due considerations while formulating the proposals for new works / services. Proposals for new works / services which are beyond the powers of the Zone would be forwarded to Railway Board, he added.
