South Central Railway Conducts Meeting with Hon’ble Members of Parliament from Maharashtra at Nanded on Railway Developmental Activities

South Central Railway has been conducting series of meetings with Hon’ble Members of Parliament -both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha- representing the areas falling under the jurisdiction of SCR to discuss various issues related to railway developmental activities and services. The third and final meeting in the series is held at Nanded, Maharashtra today (ie. 8th January, 2015). Four Hon’ble Members of Parliament:- Shri  Ashok S. Chavan (Nanded), Shri Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav (Parbhani). Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre (Akola) and Shri S. Rajeev Shankarrao Satav (Hingoli) participated in the deliberations. Shri P.K. Srivastava, General Manager / SCR,  Principal Heads of Departments from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad and Divisional Railway Managers / Nanded  & Hyderabad  were present in the meeting.

Shri Srivastava welcomed the dignitaries and elaborated o­n the performance of South Central Railway and also o­n the measures being taken to improve services to passengers o­n the Zone.

The Hon’ble Members of Parliament stressed upon early completion of Mudkhed – Parbhani doubling works duly allocating sufficient funds; speeding up the works of Akola-Khandwa gauge conversion in coordination with the State Government. The Hon’ble MPs also emphasized o­n enhancing rail connectivity from Nanded / Parbhani region to Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur and Hyderabad with less running time.

During the course of the meeting, the Hon’ble Members raised several issues related to Railway developmental works / services in their respective constituencies. The demands raised by the Hon’ble Members included  introduction of new trains, construction of Road Over Bridges/Road Under Bridges, additional stoppages to existing trains and providing improved passenger amenities etc.

The General Manager stated that the suggestions and views expressed by the Hon’ble Members would be given due consideration while formulating the proposals for new works / services. Proposals for new works / services which are beyond the powers of the Zonal Railway would be forwarded to Railway Board, he added.
