Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways lays the foundation stone of doubling along with electrification work of Muzaffarnagar-Tapri rail section and dedicates to the Nation of Solid State Interlocking facility at Muzaffarnagar Railway Station today. He also further strengthened the infrastructure of Railways by laying the foundation stone of Facelift & Up-gradation of Passenger Amenities at Deoband Railway Station today.
The 52Km long Muzaffarnagar – Tapri single line section, of Delhi-Meerut-Saharanpur section, is still to be doubled. With its doubling, it will provide alternate route to the highly saturated Delhi-Ambala section via Meerut-Saharanpur-Ambala. Accordingly, it will augment capacity and reduce travel time.
Muzaffarnagar – Tapri doubling alongwith electrification work, is sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 376.78 Crore during 2015-16. Doubling of 51.53 Km line parallel to existing alignment will involve construction of 6 additional loop lines, 9 high level platform, 6 foot over bridges, cover over platforms and other allied passenger amenity works at 6 stations.
Project involves construction of 31 minor bridges and 2 major bridges and entire alignment shall have a speed potential of 110 Kmph.Doubling work along with electrification is planned to be completed in a span of 3 years.
This Alignment covers Muzaffarnagar – Deoband - Tapri area. Stations enroute are Muzaffarnagar, Baman Heri, Rohana Kalan, Deoband, Talheri Buzurg, Nangal and Tapri Junction.
Tapri is a junction station connecting Ghaziabad via Meerut-Ghaziabad and via Shamli. Tapri also eases out congested Saharanpur yard through a bye pass line.
Besides Doubling and Electrification of Muzaffarnagar – Tapri Rail Section Shri Sinha also dedicated to the Nation the newly installed Solid State Interlocking System at Muzaffarnagar station which is a microprocessor based interlocking and offers advantages over the conventional interlocking system and enhance safety and reliability of train oprations.
The Facelift & Up-gradation of Passenger Amenities at Deoband Railway Station includes provision of platform shelter, second class waiting hall, RCC benches, ladies & gents toilet on PF No. 2&3, improvement to façade of station building, improvement of waiting hall, approach road, circulating area with aluminous type indication board at the cost of Rs. 99.30 lacs.
For the convenience of the rail passengers, additional stoppage to the train no. 14521/14522 Delhi Jn.- Ambala Cantt.- Delhi Jn. Express has been provided at Deoband station on experimental basis for six months from 05.01.2016. The 14521 Delhi Jn.- Ambala Cantt Express train will arrive at Deoband at 04.10 p.m. while its return service, the 14522 Ambala Cantt.- Delhi Jn. Express will arrive at Deoband at 07.53 a.m. (from 06.01.2016) with one minute stoppage from both the directions.
On this occasion several dignitaries includingDr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Hon’ble Minister of State For Agriculture & Farmers Welfare; Shri Raghav Lakhanpal, Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha);Shri Rajpal Singh Saini, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha), Shri Munquad Ali, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha), Sh. Suresh Rana & Sh. Rajiv Gumman, Hon’ble MLAs were also present at the time of ceremonial commencement of the above mentioned facilities at Muzaffarnagar & Deoband Stations.
Shri A.K. Puthia, General Manager, Northern Railway; Shri B.D. Garg, Chief Administrative Officer/Construction, Northern Railway and Shri Arun Arora, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi, along with several other officials also graced the occasion.
