Central Railway has decided to turn out its third Siemens rake (Unit No.2146B-2148B -2147B-2145B) with modified seating arrangement from Matunga Workshop on 3.3.2016.
In this rake, the seating arrangement modifications have been made in 8 coaches creating additional carrying capacity of 872 passengers. Additional grab handles have also been provided in each modified coach for the convenience of the commuting passengers.
In order to improve the safety of passengers commuting by suburban services, the committee of Hon’ble MPs and GM/CR has decided upon implementation of modified seating arrangement on trial basis in Siemens rakes. As a part of implementation of these modified seating arrangements, two rakes have already been turned out from Matunga Workshop on 22.12.2015 and 30.1.2016 respectively.
