Delhi Metro to run extra trips during Raksha Bandhan and weekends (sat/sun) for the month of August

The Delhi Metro generally witnesses increased ridership in the month of August every year. Therfre, DMRC has decided to run additional train trips during Raksha Bandhan and weekends (Sat/Sun) of the month. The increased trips will encourage passengers to use the system more during the weekends during the festival season of Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Independence day etc., falling during the month.
The Delhi Metro will run 106 extra train trips on the eve of Raksha Bandhan i.e, 17th August 2016, and on ‘Raksha Bandhan’, i.e. 18th August 2016 as the need arises. Similarly, during weekends (Sat/Sun) of August, 34 extra train trips on Saturdays and 95 extra trips on Sundays have been planned to facilitate the passengers.
DMRC will also deploy additional personnel at stations to cater to the extra rush of commuters expected on these two days i.e, 17th and 18th August. Guards/Customer Facilitation Agents (CFA) will be deployed at major Metro stations to help and guide commuters on these two days. In addition, extra personnel will also be deployed to handle the increased load on the ticketing system.

There is around 5% increase in the number of passengers travelling by the Metro in the month of August from the average ridership of the overall year, translating into almost 1 to 1.5 lakh extra passengers per day, which includes many using the Metro on weekends.
To gear up for this increased ridership and to provide better passenger convenience and comfort, DMRC has taken under mentioned initiatives in past few months:-
