Train No. 22118/22117 Kacheguda-Guntur-Kacheguda AC Double Decker Express and Train No. 22120/22119 Kacheguda-Tirupati-Kacheguda AC Double Decker Express were announced for introduction in the Railway Budget 2014-15, basing on which the two trains were introduced with effect from 13th and 14th May, 2014 respectively.
From the day of the introduction of these two trains, the occupancy remained very poor and gradually decreased to single digit. Considering the occupancy average and lack of demand from the rail using public for the two trains, a proposal was sent to Railway Board for cancelling the services which became un-economical, after eliciting the views of various stake holders including Public Representatives, members of the Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC). Accordingly, the Railway Board granted approval for cancellation of these two trains.
Therefore, the following two Air Conditioned Double Decker Express trains, are being permanently cancelled with effect from 14th November, 2016.
1. Train No. 22118/22117 Kacheguda-Guntur-Kacheguda AC Double Decker Express.
2. Train No. 22120/22119 Kacheguda-Tirupati-Kacheguda AC Double Decker Express.
The released Double Decker rake (Train) will be utilized to run as a Tri-Weekly Express between Visakhapatnam-Tirupati via New Guntur from a date to be notified later.
