Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, briefs Media on Budgetary Allocation for South Central Railway



Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway held a Press Conference at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e. 3rd February, 2017 to brief the media on the budgetary allocations for South Central Railway towards infrastructure development, new lines, doubling works and passenger amenities etc. Shri A.K.Gupta, Additional General Manager and other Principal Heads of Departments of SCR were present on the occasion. Earlier, Shri M.Umashankar Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer, SCR welcomed the Media and made a introductory presentation on the details of budgetary allocations to SCR.

Budgetary Allocations for South Central Railway

South Central Railway has got a substantial budgetary allocation for the year 2017-18 as compared to the previous year. The budget outlay for different heads of expenditure is –

 Towards infrastructure, SCR has been sanctioned a staggering amount of Rs 3,034 Crs for the year 2017-18 as against Rs. 2,134 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 42 % more.

 For new lines, the budgetary grant is Rs 887 Crs, as against Rs. 760 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 17 % more.

 For doubling works, the budgetary grant is Rs 436 Crs, as against Rs. 172.6 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 153 % more.

 For traffic facilities, the budgetary grant is Rs 96.1 Crs, as against Rs. 75 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 28 % more.

 For passenger amenities, the budgetary grant is Rs 67.8 Crs, as against Rs. 65.6 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 3 % more.

New infrastructure projects sanctioned on SCR in this year.

 As part of capital investment programme, a new work between Armoor – Adilabad via Nirmal in Telangana State for a length of 220 Kms at a cost of Rs. 2800 Crs has been sanctioned as part of Joint Venture (JV) with Telangana State Government.

 Vijayawada – Amaravathi – Guntur new line project in Andhra Pradesh state has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 2,680 Crs for a distance of 106 Kms.

 Development of Rajahmundry yard at an estimated cost of Rs. 27.2 Crs has been sanctioned . (Andhra Pradesh)

 Construction of 4 new Crossing stations at a estimated cost of Rs.19 cr has been sanctioned between the stations:

-Wanaparthi Road – Kaukuntla, (Telangana State)

-Manopad – Alampur Road, (Telangana State)

-Itikyala – Manopad (Telangana State)

-Ulindakonda – Veldurthi (Andhra Pradesh) over Hyderabad Division.

New Surveys sanctioned on SCR jurisdiction:

 New survey for doubling to a length of 235 Kms between Bolarum – Mudkhed has been sanctioned. (Telangana and Maharashtra)

 New survey for 4th line to a length of 234 Kms between Kazipet – Balharshah has been sanctioned. (Telangana and Maharashtra)

 New survey for 4th line to a length of 219 Kms between Kazipet – Vijayawada has been sanctioned. (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh)

 New line survey for a length of 157 Kms between Bidar - Nanded has been sanctioned. (Karnataka and Maharashtra)

 New line survey for a length of 120 Kms between Dharmavaram - Bellary has been sanctioned. (Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka)

 New line survey for a length of 132 Kms between Hindupur - Chitradurga has been sanctioned. (Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka)

 New line survey for a length of 250 Kms between Kondapalli - Kirandul has been sanctioned. (Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh)

 New line survey for a length of 110 Kms between Mantralayam Road - Kurnool has been sanctioned. (Andhra Pradesh)

 New line survey for a length of 115 Kms between Mancheryal - Gadchiroli has been sanctioned. (Telangana and Maharashtra)

This year special emphasis has been given towards Safety. The budget allocations for Safety related works are:

 For Road over/under Bridges (Road Safety Works), the budgetary grant is Rs 325.4 Crs, as against Rs. 155.8 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 109 % more.

 For Bridges, the budgetary grant is Rs 31 Crs. In this year, 9 new works are sanctioned for rebuilding and strengthening of bridges.

 To enhance safety at Level Crossings, an amount of Rs 69.5 Crs has been allotted. This year, to improve safety at busy Level Crossing gates, Inter-locking works are sanctioned at 24 LC gates.

 For Track Renewals, the budgetary grant is Rs 604.7 Crs, as against Rs. 435.3 Crs. for 2016-17, which is 39 % more.

This year, in addition to the already sanctioned complete track renewal works, 317 Kms new complete track renewal works have been sanctioned.

 On SCR, Train collision avoidance system (TCAS) extended field trials are in progress on Secunderabad – Wadi and Vikarabad – Bidar sections.

 This year, new works for provision of Train collision avoidance system (TCAS) has been sanctioned for 228 Kms between Wadi – Guntakal at a cost of Rs. 50 Crs.

 New works for provision of Train collision avoidance system (TCAS) has been sanctioned for 241 Kms between Bidar – Parli Vaijnath – Parbhani section at a cost of Rs. 25 Crs.

 New works for provision of Train collision avoidance system (TCAS) has been sanctioned for 958 Kms between Manmad – Parbhani – Nanded – Secunderabad – Gadwal – Dhone – Guntakal section at a cost of Rs. 120 Crs.

 Rs. 40 Crs is allotted for Traction Distribution work. This year, 4 new works for replacement of catenary wires and improvement at neutral sections has been sanctioned.

 Rs. 7.1 Crs has been allotted for Training and HRD as against Rs. 1.2 Crs during last year which is 492% higher.

A new work for construction of Divisional Integrated Training centre has been sanctioned at Vijayawada at a cost of Rs. 3.8 Crs.

Other important works sanctioned in this year on SCR

 At Kacheguda, a new work for relocation of IOH shed for decongesting Coaching complex has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 8 Crs. (Telangana)

 At Moula Ali, a new work for augmentation of MEMU/DEMU car shed for holding 16 MEMU/DEMU rakes has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.61 Crs (Telangana)

 At Rayanapadu, a new work for augmentation of periodic overhauling capacity of CPOH shed has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 8.7 Crs. (Andhra Pradesh)

 A new work at a cost of Rs. 5.86 Crs is sanctioned for extension of existing pit lines to accommodate 12 car MMTS rakes at Moula Ali EMU car shed.(Telangana)

 A new work for construction of waiting hall on platform 1 at Tirupati station has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs.3.72 Crs. (Andhra Pradesh)

 A new work costing Rs. 3.57 Crs for provision of cover over platforms at Aurangabad and additional foot over bridge connecting platform No 1 & 2 at Nagarsol has been sanctioned. (Maharashtra)

 New foot over bridge at a cost of Rs. 2.70 Crs has been sanctioned at Gudur station. (Andhra Pradesh)

 A new work for replacement of conventional lights to LED at all stations (approx. 120 stations) of Guntur and Guntakal Divisions has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 2.5 Crs. (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana)

 As part of capital investment programme, a new work for extension of Vijayawada – Gudivada project up to Machilipatnam deep water port for a length of 10 Kms at a cost of Rs. 130 Crs has been sanctioned as a Joint Venture (JV) with Andhra Pradesh State Government. (Andhra Pradesh)
