Presently, around 5000 LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches are running in Indian Railways.
It has been planned to replace conventional coaches of important Mail/Express trains by LHB coaches in a phased manner. It is an ongoing process over Indian Railways subject to availability of coaches, maintenance facility, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) sanction, operational requirement etc. So far, nearly 185 rakes in 135 pairs of trains are running with LHB coaches.
