INDIAN RAILWAYS NEW ‘SWARNA’ RAJDHANI & SHATABDI EXPRESS DEDICATED TO THE PASSENGERS

   Indian Railways have decided to upgrade premium Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains under project ‘Swarna’. Zonal Railways were given a free hand to develop and innovate some aesthetic and passenger friendly coach interiors o­n running rakes of these trains to establish new standards in passenger comfort. Accordingly, Eastern Railway has introduced new features in the refurbished rakes of Howrah Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains based o­n extensive research.

                Shri Harindra Rao, General Manager, Eastern Railway inspected the state of the art Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains revamped with new fittings, furnished toilets, water filters, LED lights etc. at Howrah station(23.12.2017).

         After inspecting ‘Swarna’ Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains, Shri Rao also interacted with the passengers and listened to their suggestions as a means to assess valuable feedback.

                Shri Rao stated that, complete interior painting, LED lighting, provision of auto janitor in toilets, steel wash basins, improved soap dispenser, better quality dustbins, CCTV cameras in door-way area to monitor any suspected activity with data storage, new designed magazine bags, vinyl wrapping of toilet doors, provision of extra mats in toilets, polished commodes and basins to make them odor free in every tripare some of the salient features of the revamped coaches of Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains under project Swarna.

In addition to all these, the Rajdhani trains will be provided with night signage for easy identification of berth numbers for enroute entraining passengers, blanket covers for First AC passengers of two different colours to ensure separate cover in to &fro journey, built-in ladders for First AC passengers for easy access to upper berth

                Shri Ravinder Gupta, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri Manu Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Eastern Railway, Howrah and other principal officers of Eastern Railway were present o­n the occasion.

              Earlier, the first rake of Sealdah – New Delhi Rajdhani Express with improved features was dedicated to the service of passengers in the month of November this year. The refurbished rakes of Howrah Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains are also  DEDICATED TO THE SERVICES OF THE PASSENGERS.
