utsourcing of Manning and Maintenance of Air-Conditioned Waiting Halls at Secunderabad Railway Station




With a view to provide more convenient and comfortable service to passengers, the manning and maintenance of the Air-Conditioned Waiting Halls o­n Platform No.1 and 10 at Secunderabad Railway Station have been outsourced to offer ‘Pay and Use’ facility for the first time ever o­n South Central Railway, with effect from 21st October, 2011. M/s.Tete Enterprises, will handle the contract for maintenance, cleanliness and manning of both these Waiting Halls.

Benefits to Passengers in the Air-Conditioned Waiting Halls in the new Scheme

  1. The Waiting Halls will have two LCD televisions with DTH Cable Connections for viewing news and entertainment.
  2. Two newspapers each in English and Telugu, two magazines each in English and Telugu are provided free of cost in the Waiting Halls.
  3. Purified Ultra-Violet (UV) treated Drinking Water is provided through water dispensers.
  4. Liquid Soap is provided at the wash basins for the use of passengers.
  5. Cleanliness of the entire Waiting halls including the toilets is continuously maintained by using cleaning agents.
  6. Room Freshners are used each hour to maintain the ambience in the Waiting Halls.

User Charges

  1. Passengers holding confirmed First AC and Second AC tickets are exempted from payment of charges.
  2. For passengers holding confirmed Third AC and Sleeper Class tickets , user charges are levied as under :
i.For the first two hours Rs.20/- is charged per passenger.
ii.For every subsequent hour beyond the first two hours Rs.10/- is charged per passenger.
3. Railway employees and pass holders with First AC and Second AC class tickets are exempted from payment of charges, while Railway employees and pass holders with Third AC and Sleeper Class tickets will have to pay the necessary charges.

Advantages to Railways

  1. Additional Revenue of Rs. 2.55 lakhs per annum will be earned by Railways as License Fee.
  2. An amount of Rs.26.72 lakhsper annum incurred towards staff cost and electrical charges will be saved by Railways.
  3. The surplus Group ‘D’ Staff will be utilized at other major stations o­n Secunderabad Division for manning new Waiting Halls.
