With the steep hike in bus fare announced by the government last month prompting steady increase in number of passengers, Divisional Railway Manager P.V.Vaidialingam ordered opening of an additional counter for unreserved tickets at Tiruchi junction.Already four counters are functioning at Tiruchi junction for issuing current tickets. Mr.Vaidialingam who inspected the current ticket issuing counters on Wednesday, noticed long queues in front of the counters and ordered instant opening of an additional one. The new counter will function from noon to 8 p.m. on all seven days, the DRM told The Hindu .Heavy rush of passengers is witnessed at Kumbakonam railway station and there has been demand for opening additional counters for issuing current tickets.
