The Erode District Consumer Protection Centre has urged the Railway to reintroduce the special train between Coimbatore and Nagercoil to meet the long-felt need of people in southern parts of Tamil Nadu.
The Railway, after introducing the special train in November 2011, withdrew it in the same month for reasons unknown, the Centre's district secretary M. Balasubramanian said in a memorandum addressed to the Railway Board.

The Railway operates very few services to connect southern parts of Tamil Nadu with the Kongu region.
Full trains

Textile workers
A large number of people, who are working in textile and other sectors in Kongu region, are forced to depend on bus services for their travel between their native and work place .
The operation of an additional train between these two towns would benefit thousands of people in the State and ease the congestion in the existing train services, he said.
