Chandigarh IRCTC's initiative for religious tourism

Chandigarh IRCTC’s initiative for religious tourism, it seems, has more takers than it can handle. Now, the authorities are trying to make room for all of them. The response of passengers who have opted for the special Bharat Darshan train for Shirdi that takes off on Tuesday is tremendous. So much so, that many devotees of Sai Baba have their names in the waiting list.“The response for this train is more than 100 percent. All 480 seats have been booked and 90 people are in the waiting list.”Looking at the response, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited, Chandigarh is planning another such train to Shirdi and other parts of South India, slated to chug off on January 7.“We’re persuading the people in waiting list to avail the train on January 7 which will also cover other religious places in South in Tirupati, Madurai, Rameshvaram, Kanyakumari, Mahabalipuram etc. It will be a 12-day tour.”Another special train is scheduled for Somnath and other parts of Rajasthan on 25th December for which around 100 seats have already been booked. The IRCTC officials said the dates for such special trains are planned according to the feedback of passengers, availability of coaches and weather conditions
