Railway development: Land acquisition to be speeded up

It has been decided in the meeting of CM with the Union Minister for State for Railways K H Muniyappa to speed up the process of land acquisition in the state for developing railways in the state.It has also been decided to acquire the land and to start the projects immediately to prevent the project funds from getting lapsed. For the doubling of railway line in the Kottayam stretch, land would be acquired in Piravom- Ettumaoor, Kottayam and Chingavanam- Chenganoor stretch in 3 phases.  The doubling in Alappuzha stretch would also be enhanced.Sanction of State Government will be accorded for the construction of 40 fly overs. Presently the work on 30 fly overs is progressing. Since the agreement for Cherthala Wagon factory has been signed, the work should start immediately, CM said.Letter would be forwarded to railways regarding sanctioning 239 acres of land for the coach factory at Palakkad.Central Minister K C Venugopal, Minister Aryadan Muhamamd, Railway Divisional Manger Rajeev Agarwal were also part of the meeting.
