proof of identity for Ac passengers


With effect from 15.02.12, any o­ne of the passengers booked to travel in Ac-Chair car, 3AC, 2 AC, 1Ac, and Executive class o­n an reserved ticket issued through PRS will be required to produced any o­ne of the Nine prescribed proofs of identity (In Original) during journey, and produced the same as and when required failing which all the passengers booked o­n that ticket will be treated as without ticket and charged accordingly.

Apart from this in case of passengers who are automatically upgraded by the system from sleeper Class to Air- conditioned class and in incase of passengers who are upgraded by o­n-board ticket checking staff o­n realization of difference of fare, the conditions of carrying proof ofidentity during the journey shall not be applicable.

The list of valid proofs of identity are as under:-

vVoter photo identity card issued by Election Commission of India.

vPassport.

vPAN Card issued by Income Tax Department.

vDriving Licence issued by RTO.

vPhoto identity card having serial number issued by Centra/State Government.

vPhoto identity card with photograph issued by recognized School/College for their students.

vNationlised Bank Passbook with photograph.

vCredit Cards issued by Bans with laminated photograph.

vUnique Identification Card" Aadhar"

In addition to above, following are some of the identity proofs issued by Central /state Government also valid during the journey travellingby AC class.

vPension Pay Orders(PPO)

vRation Card with photographs

vSenior Citizen Cards.

vBelow poverty Line(BPL) cards.

vESI cards (with photograph)issued for taking treatment in ESI dispensaries.

vCGHS Cards (with photograph) issued to individual=al family members of Central government employees.
