1.South Central Railway reaches the landmark of 100 Million Tonnes (or 1000 Lakh Tonnes) of Originating Freight Loading on 23.03.2012 during the current financial year. It makes SCR to proudly join the prestigious "100 Million Tonnes Plus Loading'league" of Indian Railways which at present contains only three Zonal Railways - South East Central, East Coast and South Eastern Railways. on this occasion, Shri G N Asthana, General Manager, South Central Railway hailed the achievement and has congratulated the Officers & Staff.

2.During the current Fiscal 2011-12, SCR is set to reachapproximately 103 Million Tonnes (MTs) of Originating Freight Loadingcompared to 96 MTs in the previous Fiscal with a growth rate of 6.8%, despite several disturbances due to Rail Rokos/Strike affecting Freight movement and Coal Loading from Singareni Collieries.

3.The Freight Traffic growth on SCR in the recent past has been phenomenal, which grew sharply from 73.8 MTs Loading in 2008-09 to 103 MTs in 2011-12. Thus the Zone could load 28 MTs of additional traffic in just three years, posting one of the highest growth rates in Freight Loading on Indian Railways.

4.Freight Earnings constitute approximately 70% of the Originating Earnings of SCR.
