Train service in the north east has been adversely affected due to the ongoing violence in lower Assam, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) S Hajong said on Tuesday.
In view of the serious law and order situation in lower Assam, running of trains have been affected and passengers are stranded in various stations.
Consequent to regulation of trains en route in between New Bongaigaon (Assam) and Alipurduar(West Bengal) resulting in bunching of trains, trains movement is affecting badly and all trains are now running behind schedule, a NFR press release said.
According to NFR press release the following is the latest position of trains enroute:

1. 15959 up Howrah - Dibrugarh Kamrup Express of 23.07.2012 - left Srirampur at 07.45 hrs of
24.07.2012.
