DMRC starts Shifting /Modification of major electrical utilities including transmission lines work of faridabad corridor

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started shifting of the major electrical lines and transformers to execute the construction work on the 13.875 kilometer long Badarpur – YMCA (Faridabad) corridor.

As part of this work, a 220 KV and a 66 KV Double Circuit transmission line would be raised for the construction of viaduct and proposed NHPC Chowk station. Another 66 KV Double Circuit transmission lines which is running along proposed YMCA Station would be converted into underground by laying about 12 Kms single core cables. Shifting of electrical utilities in this Metro Corridor is a major challenge for DMRC Engineers due to:-

1. Almost all 517 number of piers are affected and infringing with 2/3 circuits of Over Head 11 KV Electrical Lines and Under Ground cables.

2. Space for shifting of electrical utilities is not available at number of locations. The electrical installations would be shifted after land is made available for which HUDA has already been requested.

This is the first time in history of DMRC that the Electrical lines infringing through out the corridor at all Piers and station locations.
DMRC has already started shifting of 11 KV/LT electrical lines including 63 pole/plinth mounted sub stations adjacent to the entire Faridabad Metro alignment. These existing electrical lines are feeding most of the factories and households of Faridabad in 10.875 km stretch.
Delhi Metro is taking special measures for the shifting of these electrical lines to ensure that the consumers face minimum inconvenience during the shifting/relocations of transformers and the electrical lines in peak summer .

Nearly 4.0 Kms Electrical Lines including 06 Nos. Transformers of various ratings have already been shifted in close co-ordination with DHBVN without any inconvenience to Consumers.

DMRC has shifted number of transmission lines of 220 KV, 132KV, 66KV & 33 KV voltage level till date in Delhi, Gurgaon & Jaipur, and is in the process of shifting more high voltage electrical lines during the execution of Phase III project. It may be recalled that in Phase II, DMRC engineers have successfully raised the height of 220 KV double circuit lines to facilitate the passage of launching girder near Sarita Vihar flyover & Badarpur Border without disturbing the regular power supply to the local residents of the area. The modified 220 KV line near Badarpur is having longest ever span across metro corridor, it was meticulously planned keeping in view the construction of fly over by NHAI as well .

This is for the first time that such type of work has been done in Delhi by raising the height of the lowest conductor from 8.0 meter to a record height of 34 meter on 58 meters narrow base terminal towers. At another location the height of a 220 KV line Double circuit Tower line was raised on Vikas Marg which was dangerously passing through congested area of Lalita Park in East Delhi.

This fully elevated corridor will have 9 stations and likely to be operational by year 2014. This is an extension of already operational 20.16 km long Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor of Line -6 which is further extended from Central Secretariat to Kashmree Gate covering 9.36 km. Once fully operational, Line-6 will be running from Kashmere Gate to YMCA Chowk having a length of 43.40 KM and 32 Metr
