Work on Erode – Karur railway line to be completed by August


Salem Divisional Railway Manager Sujatha Jayaraj has expressed hope that the full operation of passenger train service between Erode and Tirunelveli will resume with effect from August 12.
The operation of the Tirunelveli-Erode-Tirunelveli passenger train was partially cancelled between Erode and Karur in both directions due to the maintenance works on the track.
Ms. Sujatha Jayaraj said steps had been taken up to complete the works before August. If there were any delays in the completion of the works, the full operation of the passenger train would resume a little later, she said.
She was here to participate in the sports day celebrations at Railway Mixed School.
Ms. Sujatha Jayaraj further said that the importance of the Erode railway station would not be undermined operation of trains commenced on the Salem – Namakkal – Karur new railway line. The railway was yet to decide on the trains that would be operated on the new line, she said and added that a few trains bound for Southern districts would use the new line.
