INDIAN RAILWAY TRAFFIC SERVICE OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION CELEBRATED IRTS DAY


Indian Railway Traffic Service Officers’ Association celebrated IRTS Day on 4th of March 2013 at Railway Officers’ Club, Sardar PatelMarg, New Delhi.

With the growing network and increasing traffic, the British Govt. recognized the need for a separate Traffic Department for handling train operations. The Traffic Service was created in the year in 1889 that was further strengthened in 1906. Earlier known as “Traffic Transportation and Commercial Department’, on 4th of March 1967 the service was rechristened “Indian Railway Traffic Service’.

The superannuated officers of the batch 1962, who joined the service 50 years ago. Were honoured by the Chairman Railway Board. The serving officers of the batch of 1986, who joined the service 25 years back, were felicitated by the Member Traffic. The award instituted by AITD, for the Best Probationer, carrying a gold medal and a citation was given by Member Traffic to Dr. Zenia Gupta, AOM, Vadodara of 2009 batch.

The officers were addressed by Shri Vinay Mittal, Chairman Railway Board and Shri K.K. Srivastava, Member Traffic.
