The three-day 20th District Rally of Central District Association of S.E.Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides concluded at BNR Ground, Santragachi yesterday (31.03.2013). Shri A.K.Verma, General Manager, South Eastern Railway and Patron, S.E.Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function held yesterday evening. Shri Pramod Kumar, Addl. General Manager, S.E.Railway and President, SER Bharat Scouts and Guides and Shri Sudhir Mital, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), SER and State Chief Commissioner, SER Bharat Scouts and Guides were also present at the concluding ceremony.
Shri A.K.Verma, General Manager, S.E.Railway speaking at the concluding ceremony spoke about the efforts put in by Scouts and Guides throughout the year in different social works, during natural calamities and train mishaps. He also spoke about the role of scouting in producing good citizens and creating awareness among public against different social evils and problems. In this connection, he also referred to the role played by scouts and guides in influencing people for using Foot Over Bridges at stations which has helped in reducing accidents as well as their efforts in maintaining cleanliness of stations and railway premises.
About 400 Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls participated in the rally which was inaugurated on 29th March, 2013. Competition between various groups was held for parade, craft, folk dance, first-aid, quiz etc. Four Scouts and Guides were felicitated for getting the Rashtrapati Award. Santragachi South Group was adjudged as the overall best group amongst the eight groups which participated in the meet.
