HON’BLE UNION MINISTER OF STATE FOR RAILWAYS VISITS ACCIDENT SITE , STATUTORY INQUIRY BY COMMISSIONER OF RAILWAY SAFETY


Shri Kotla Jayasurya Prakash Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Railways, accompanied by  Shri Kulbhushan, Member Electrical, Railway Board,        Shri Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway, Shri S.K. Mittal, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Shri Pradeep Kumar, Adviser/Civil Engineering,      Shri Arul Saxena, Adviser/Signal, visited the accident site at Chitteri today (10.4.2013).

            The Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs.2 lakhs to the next of kin of the passenger who was killed in the rail accident at Chitteri railway station near Arakkonam.  The Hon’ble Minister said that Rs.50,000/- would be given to those grievously injured and Rs.10,000/- to those who suffered simple injuries.

         

            Later, the Hon’ble Minister visited the Govt. General Hospital at Arakkonam and met the injured persons admitted there and handed over the relief amount o­n the spot.     Shri Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway and other senior railway officials accompanied the Hon’ble Minister.

STATUTORY INQUIRY BY COMMISSIONER OF RAILWAY SAFETY

            Shri Satish Kumar Mittal, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern circle, Bangalore under the Ministry of Civil Aviation will hold a statutory inquiry at the Southern Railway DRM’s Conference Hall, Chennai Division, Fifth floor, Park Town, Chennai – 600 003 commencing at 11.00 hrs. o­n 15.04.2013 till its completion o­n 16.04.2013 in connection with derailment of Train No.15228 Muzafurpur – Yeswanthpur Down Express between Chitteri – Mahendrawadi stations in Arakkonam – Katpadi section of Chennai Division at km.76/23-77/3 o­n 10.4.2013.
