SHRI ADHIR RANJAN CHOWDHURY,HON'BLE MOSR FLAGS OFF THREE NEW TRAINS AND ANNOUNCES TWO NEW TRAINS


Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, flagged off three new trains and announced the introduction of two new trains at a function held at Howrah Station(New Complex) this morning(15.04.2013). The trains which were flagged off are Haldia-Anand Vihar Weekly Superfast Express , Santragachi-Bagnan EMU local and Santragachi-Panskura EMU local. Shri Chowdhury also announced the introduction of two new trains viz., Shalimar-Bhuj Weekly Superfast Express which will run with effect from 20.04.2013 and Mathnasipur-Masagram DEMU Passenger which will run w.e.f.16.04.2013.

The Haldia-Anand Vihar Express will connect East Midnapur District of West Bengal to the National Capital whereas Shalimar-Bhuj Express will provide another direct connectivity between Kolkata and Gujarat.The two pairs of new EMUs will be immensely beneficial for the people of Bagnan and Panskura. The Mathnashipur-Masagram DEMU Passenger will run from tomorrow on the newly constructedrailway line of 10.2 kms from Mathnashipur to Masagramand will provide a direct connectivity from Bankura to Howrah via Masagram

Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, while speaking on the occasion, conveyed his best wishes to all on the auspicious Bengali New Year’s Day. Shri Chowdhury stated that the Indian Railways have undertaken two giant Railway projects, viz., East and West Dedicated Freight Corridors covering a stretch of 3, 300 kms for exclusive movement of goods trains. While narrating the success story of Indian Railways, Shri Chowdhury stated that Indian Railways is one of the four major Railway Freight Giants of the world – the others being USA, Russia and China.Emphasising on the improvement of passenger amenities, Shri Chowdhury stated that the Indian Railways have already launched two toll free numbers for lodging complaints by the passengers. He also laid stress on the betterment of catering service by way of providing of hygienic & quality food and setting up of improved base kitchens at major stations. Shri Chowdhury directed all Railway officials to pay heed to the complaints lodged by the passengers and to take immediate steps to redress their grievances.

Earlier, Shri Sudhir Mital, Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway while welcoming the distinguished guests, spoke about the success of S.E.Railway in respect of freight and passenger traffic in the financial year 2012-13 which has just gone by.
