Western Railway bags four Shields for outstanding performance


58th Central Railway Week 2013 was held at NCPA in Mumbai o­n Tuesday, 16th April, 2013. Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal, Hon'ble Minister for Railways, Govt of India was the Chief Guest o­n this occasion and gave away Shields to the best Zonal Railways in various fieldsalong with over 325 individual awards for outstanding performance in the year 2012-13. Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Hon'ble Minister of State for Railways was the Guest of Honour. Shri Vinay Mittal, Chairman, Railway Board, Members of the Board, General Managers of various Zones, Senior Officers and staff were present o­n this occasion in large number.



Western Railway has bagged four Shields for outstanding performance in respective fields. Western Railway received Traffic Transportation (Operating) Shield jointly with South Central Railway, Electrical Engineering Shield jointly with NE Frontier Railway & Civil Engineering Shield jointly with South Central Railway & West Central Railway. Western Railway has also got the Shield for the Best Running Room for Sabarmati Running Room, Ahmedabad. The prestigious Govind Vallabh Pant Shield was bagged by North Central Railway. Shri Mahesh Kumar, General Manager, Western Railway received these Shields along with the respective PHODs from Hon'ble Minister. Shri Bansal gave away individual awards to 325 railwaymen including officers & staff for their meritorious service during the year. He also gave away awards to 38 officers & staff for outstanding performance in scrap disposal. NCPA was resounded constantly with cheers and sounds of applauds as Hon'ble Minister for Railways presented the Shields and the Awards to the recipients.



Chairman of Railway Board Shri Vinay Mittal welcomed the Honourable Guests in the beginning. Shri H.K. Jaggi, Secretary, Railway Board compeered the function and gave away the Vote of Thanks. A short cultural programme was organized o­n this occasion.
