GROWTH IN SER’S PASSENGER TRAFFIC AND EARNINGS

During the first four months i.e. April to July of the current financial year (2014-15), South Eastern Railway has carried 87.75 million passengers as against 85.87 million passengers carried during the corresponding period of last financial year, thus recording a growth of 2.19%.

Out of total 87.75 million passengers carried during April- July of the current financial year by S.E.Railway, 46.51 million were suburban passengers while 41.24 million were non-suburban passengers.

Earnings from passenger traffic have recorded a big jump of 16.01% during the first four months of the current financial year in comparison to the corresponding period of last year.During April to July of the current financial year, SER has earned Rs.528.06 crores from passenger traffic as against Rs.455.20 crores earned from passenger sector during the same period of last year, i.e. an increase of Rs 72.86 crores.

Out of Rs.528.06 crores earned from passenger traffic during April-July of the current financial year, Rs.495.13 crores was earned from non-suburban traffic while Rs.32.93 crores was earned from suburban traffic.
