Now, students can take a tour of Namma Metro facilities

his includes a ride on the train and a visit to the depot
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has started a paid guided tour of the Namma Metro facilities for students. U.A. Vasantha Rao, BMRCL’s General Manager, said the city’s Namma Metro, being the youngest in the country, has been able to incorporate the latest technology. This tour will help children know more about the Metro, he said.
Groups of 100 to 120 students can take a tour, which costs Rs. 50, Rs. 75 and Rs. 100 for middle school, high school and college students, respectively.
As part of the two-hour guided tour, students can take a ride on the Metro from Byappanahalli to M.G. Road (or the other way around). They will get to see the operations of the Metro, live demonstrations, the maintenance section, what is done each day to keep the trains working and how the safety systems work.
“We want to demystify Namma Metro for students. They will also be taken to the depot (in Byappanahalli), which is the nerve centre of the Metro,” he said.
The depot has an auditorium where students can participate in a question-and-answer session and meet the staff members. They will also be told about the dos and don’ts of travelling by the Metro, said Mr. Rao.
